Here comes the fear...
The other week I went on a first person representation course. This basically entails re-enacting the character of a person from history; not necessarily someone famous. Just a real life, three dimensional human. It was very difficult!
There were about fifteen of us from various museums.
We played lots of warm up games and exercises to build our confidence. Next we all had to tell a one minute story about something that had happened to us. It had to be entertaining, interesting and possibly have a punch line. By the end of the second day each of us had to be interviewed in our character. There was Mr Black the Victorian printer, Dr Obadiah, a rather dubious quack, Lord Thomas (a Tudor landowner) a land army girl from World War Two,...
a whole range of persona’s. I played my usual self as a Medieval jester and porter for the Lord. It was a thoroughly terrifying experience!
