The curious case of the itinerant Djembe
Oh my god, how long is it since I found the time to talk to the blog machine? Life has been so busy. Last night I went out with my friend John, the first time we have been out in probably 6 years to our local hang out to see some local hang outs. The hang outs in question were the two guys from my old band who have formed a new rock band- Planet Friday. I have to confess, I was absolutely and utterly whammed. It only took three pints of cider but I was incoherant!
The band were technically really good, but, (can I say this about my very good friends..) it was abit boring. I did come home very merry, with nearly as much cash as I left with and a Djembe... The said Djembe ( which for the uninitiated is an African drum) was left at a certain percussionists house over two years ago, as a favour. In between times the owner decided to procreate and missed the said drum immensely. (thats me by the way)
So weird how those years have zipped by...I had a quite sad conversation with the drummers father in law who is in his 70's who would love to be a grandpa but has given up on it. Last time I saw him was before Sam arrived, the time has just flown by...
Sam.
Sam is walking, talking, stalking, baulking,...!
Richard should read this, it's the best thing you can ever do, it's the hardest thing too, but worth every moment.
Message to carpetbagger, i hope you are ok, I was ,alarmed by your comment on needing a break, but understand, you know my own predicament..

Oh, Shaun, I do wish we could chat. Life is so strange and I feel like a character in a Woody Allen movie sometimes. It was Father's Day in North America today, so happy Father's Day to you, my friend. I wish mine were still alive. I never thought I would miss him as much as I do.
Shaun-E,
You always were gone after 3 pints - what has changed is stopping there and not carrying on until you forget where the drum came from and why you're asleep in a hedge!
Tim and I were talking about the need to go out this morning. We very rarely go out (on our own or together) - and I really don't miss it. I must be getting boring and old!
Hope you got spoilt on Fathers day xo
