Seeking closure...

The strangest thing happened the other day. Victoria was locking up the building (no-that's not the strange thing!). She went up the tower to lock the upstairs door, when she came back down, the door into the corridor had closed and locked itself. There was no-one around, no members of public, no draughts and the door is quite stiff on it's hinges anyway... This is the doorway which saw the ghost of the grey lady pass through it a few years ago. It's thought the chopping out of a timber upright prompted this (you can see it clearly on the photo). We have been having alot of building work done at the moment. Has is disturbed a few sleeping spirits?...

Apparently these people are Victorians! Actually it's the Lord of the House entertaining a visiting Lady with her Maid...

A Victorian Christmas.... We all dressed as Victorian characters for our Christmas event at the Old Hall. I was an itinerant poacher, complete with a brace of pheasants ( they actually started dripping blood at lunchtime). Wearing your socks over your trousers is very cosy and warm.
I should explain the title. I live in North Nottinghamshire close to the River Trent. The Aegir is a tidal surge that travels up the River Trent about twice a year due to its banks narrowing the further inland it gets. The Aegir is basically a large wave that travels very fast upstream. Before it appears the current slows down, stops, then starts to flow in the opposite direction. It's all very spooky! We tried to chase it once from the river bank, me, my girlfriend, her dad and his dog, in a landrover. He doesn't take prisoners in his landrover, yet we still couldn't catch the wave. King Cnut sat on the same river bank and watched the same wave nearly a thousand years ago.
This is me last year dressed as a Medieval Minstrel, playing a Vielle en Rue, commonly (and inaccurately) known as a Hurdy Gurdy. This is in Warsop Hall, a medieval Barn in Nottinghamshire. We were holding a Medieval day for some of the students I teach pottery and music to. Everyone got freaked out at the orbs on all the photos, thinking there was some sort of supernatural activity. I just think its lens flare!

My first ever blog

Wow, my first blog, this is somewhat scarey. I now understand what writers block means. Its 2.oo am and I am flagging after the exhaustive process of signing in. Time for bed to consider this momentous, er, moment.
