Daisies of the Galaxy

Been a busy week. Played a gig at the Miners Welfare in Shirebrook on thursday, a lovely venue, crowd not really interested in us. They layed on a lovely buffet though! I played bass on a couple of numbers which was an absolute joy. So nice to plug in an instrument that -needs one cable, doesn't feedback, stays in tune, doesn't need constant attention from a hex nut tightener and always sounds good. Maybe I should ditch the banjo! ...only daydreaming. This is the view from the stage, over the wasteland... (with my unused microphone jutting out accusingly!). ">Link

Shine on...

Last saturday saw our great adventure down to Suffolk, playing a St Patricks night gig at the British Sugar Social Club in Bury St Edmunds. I set off at dinner time, driving down the A1 then the A14 with major butterflies in my stomach. A surprisingly easy drive, not much traffic, took just over two hours, which meant I had to sit around and kill time.
We went on stage at 8-30 with about 100 people in the crowd, average age 65!
I don't think thet were too impressed, expecting traditional Irish music and not our more up tempo folk stuff. Still, we got a good response and a stage invasion at the end of the night, which was great! This lady took a special interest in my John Alvey Turner (the banjo!) ">Link

Falling away from you...

I'm such a bad blogger, it's been ages since I added an entry. Have been abit busy though. It's only a couple of days away from our Bury t Edmunds gig for St Patricks day (hi anna!!) I'm so shattered at the moment, been commuting by train and practising at night. Might as well post a pictue of my world at 8am every morning... ">Link

Ok .it's supposed to be a picture of the railway first, not my bath, that was to come later, it's just that blogger dashboard is so fucking stupid it won't let me arrange my photos in a logical order... arrghhhhh!

Not much interesting has happened lately. The band sound really good, even though Roland the bass player has left, due to him wanting to be in a blues outfit-which we are not!

I fell down the stairs last week and bent the hot water pipe, not to mention bruising my elbows and back! I went the whole length of the staircase which shook me up a fair bit. Had a week of hot baths to recover-hence the picture above...
