When shall we two meet again?...

Sunday was "Lark in the Park" the annual event in Richmond park in Gainsborough. This years theme was scottish, with the Scottish play at the end of the day. Frances and myself were suitably Scottish. I was quite pleased with meself as I grew a beard which went ginger, showing off my own Scottish ancestry! (great grandad). Aye,... fit ya deen?

Kings for a day, Kings for a lifetime

Last day of the China project, a picnic with me mates, Richard, Terry, Steve, me, Alex and Andy.

"You swear so posh"

Is there such a thing as fate, that certain situations and instances seem pre planned and sent to test us or maybe teach us some strange lesson- and I'm certainly not talking in any religious way. I'm beginning to believe in a certain power to make us collide. with each other, in a manner of ways. I think I've had a particularly serious head-on.

"its better to regret something you did, than something you didn't do..."

Can I quote another lyric from the red hot chillie peppers? it goes... .....awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww shit! -from "deep kick". That fairly sums things up at this juncture. If nobody moves then no one gets hurt. o-k?

Looking,looking,looking for the deep kick

Well, it's all over. I'm really sad tonight. Six months has passed so quick, all my students have gone off on their holidays with much hugging and stuff. The play was a raging success as was the barbeque yesterday to finish off the project. I said goodbye to the attic today, I've gone upto it about a thousand times fetching props and materials, I never thought I would miss it. Plans are afoot for the next big idea-Arthurian Legend and the Knights of Camelot... Pictures are to follow...

Box frenzy

We have an ongoing exhibition at Gainsborough Old Hall called blank canvas, inviting local people to give their interpretation of the hall. And finally... here is mine! It's not finished yet. I had grand ideas about tapestries and stuff, but ended up thinking about the fact that the building is timber framed, simple , elegant. I found this piece of wood in the grounds after an event last year,so it seemed very apropriate to make a casket out of it, finished in wax. I may gild it inside, for added alegory!

An inspector calls

An inspector called on us today, but there was no murder! It was the lady from our funding agency, come to see if we were doing what we promised, i.e. teaching some chinese culture to our clients. I think we passed the test, even though I think it's alittle (!) naive to expect giants steps in awareness when teaching people with learning disabilities. It was suggested we get them to help fill out the register and forms etc... I'm trying hard not to swear here,but... I mean, come on, getting people out of a centre for the day is an achievement and an improvement to their lives, whether they can really pick out a country on a map or recognise a flag is not the point of the exercise. Anyhow, it seems no money has actually been processed yet, which doesn't really matter to us as we only have another week of our project to go, we've done it money or no money! The big performance is next friday, with various bigwigs invited. At the end of the day it's all for the enjoyment of our students and on that level it has been a raging success, whether it ticks any boxes or not. Not that I want to sound pessimistic, as the inspector seemed quite impressed with all our work and the performance we gave her. She also suggested we apply to fund another project to start in September. I already have an idea... Conquistadors!!! we all dress as Spaniards and go exploring .... Pictured is our cut out cardboard horse which became surplus to requirements, so ended up becoming a photo board. A photo horse, or maybe a picture pony.

Whodunnit?...

Super furry animals

No work was completed tonight as my friend from up the street decided he wanted some company. He's got taste, curling up on a large slab of mahogony (which is destined to be a five string bass!). This is smudge, who regularly visits, he spent saturday night sleeping on my bed, snuggled at my feet. He got thrown out at 5 am after trying to sit on my head! He does have his own home, but after all... he is a cat, he probably has half a dozen stop-offs who give him milk and somewhere comfy to sleep.
