Forgot just how brilliant Pearl Jam are.Been listening to them since they were at the Reading Festival. "Corduroy" will be played at my funeral, should I die, (I don't actually plan on doing that though.)
Been a plain sort of day today, spent it at home, first time in ages, cleaning and hoovering and thinning out paperwork. Bit bored to say the least, no one wants to talk to me.

The flan in the face...dance you fucker, dance!
I had a a job interview today for the post of Arts Co-ordinator at a Grammar School in Caistor. Not too sure about the job, lots of co-ordinating, not too much art... Don't want to be sat behind a desk all day, I want to do practical, hands on workshops. Also the mileage was abit of an issue. It's a long way to travel for a desk job.
Pictured is Bambi, shot through the heart by an arrow, fired by myself.
Now hows that for irony...........Fuck, ain't the world a strange playground !

Knights of Cydonia (ok maybe Sidmouth)
Today we had an event called Knights and Kings. All sorts of Medieval shenanigans were going on. Story telling, dancing, weaponry and fighting demonstrations and... archery ! Yay. I managed to blag my way into having a play at shooting bambi. Even had a challenge by a lovely polish lady re-enacter who made me play her a tune on my mandolin after loosing miserably!
All in all it was a very sucessfull event, only down point was my good friend Carla not being able to turn up to see me stretching my long bow. Maybe next time.
I have a massive bowmans kiss on my elbow; a big bruise caused by the snap of the string as you loose off the arrow. Was worth it though.

Sunshine like marmelade
I just love this view, from the third floor of the Salt Mills by the restaurant. It's like time has stood still, which it did for a moment when I took the picture. I dashed over when the sun came out, much to the dismay of the waitress who was stood near. Had a very nice three cheese and prawn pie thing with salad, can't remember the technical term for it, but it was lovely all the same, washed down with a messina lager in a long tall Ritzenhoff glass. Perfect. I might stop travelling soon on my days off, you can never visit too many art galleries though, especially when they are of the standard of the Salt Mills. I've never been to Hull, so it could be the next walkabout! Only an hour away on a train from here. Although in vertical terms, so is space. Hmmmm...
A little splash
Yesterday I visited Saltaire, to see the 1853 Gallery, which is the home of many David Hockney paintings. Hockney is from Bradford, although he now lives in California. He is one of my favourite artists! It's an absolutely amazing place, gets better every time you go (this must be about my tenth visit). Saltaire is also a very unusual town, purpose built by Sir Titus Salt to house his factory workers- (so called because of Salt and the river Aire). The light is very distinctive there. It's a very beguiling and inspiring place. I bought a massive sketch pad with which to fill with landscapes on my imminent trip to Devon...

Everything beautiful is far away
"what a shame, as she drifts out of reach..." (that's a grandaddy lyric....)
We all have to make sacrifices, as Carpetbagger so wisely said to me. It's not easy though. In fact it's fucking difficult. Very, very difficult. Some sacrifices that are very difficult, if not impossible, to come to terms with.
even if you are a donkey.
Oh green world
Wow, what a fantastic day I had yesterday. Wandered around Sheffield, visited the Ruskin Gallery, the Millenium Gallery, the Winter Gardens ( my most favourite place ever) and numerous other sites. Good time to sit and clear my thoughts, away from home. The winter gardens are the most relaxing place to sit and ponder, to say you are in the middle of a bustling city. They were even on gardeners world tonight. Wonderful place.

Subway to Venus
Im off on a cultural mission for the next few days. Tomorrow a trip to Sheffield, then Saturday a trip to Leeds and Bradford. Both in order to look at the local art centres and Galleries with a view to some freelance work. Quite looking forward to just jumping on a train and disappearing into the rat-race for a while. I would happily sit on a train to Mars should there be a service (and that is really not likely in england...) I love train travel. My printing workshop last week really fired me up to expanding the horizons of my art. I might even show a picture even though I look awful on it...

Express cool
The 17th of August.
What a day it has been.
All the gears in the universe that affect me slipped into place today and propelled me into a differant place. (Wow, that sounded abit deep! I wish I had a carpetbagger to talk to!)
So strange that a number of things became clear, such as the stones and the need to take hold of the steering wheel. I got an invite to interview for a job, another strange coincidence, although as I'm realising, there is no such thing as coincidence on the larger scale of things.
On a lighter note, here is a picture of smudge sat on the fridge. He got twitchy just as I took the picture. As you see, he is "express cool"...

Nothing to see nothing to say
I don't really feel I have anything interesting to write about at the moment, at least nothing I want to divulge to blogger, but feel like writing anyway.
Can't wait to get back into the swing of work at the daycentre, to start a new project to take us into Autumn. They have bought a potters wheel so some serious throwing looks to be on the menu. -Its all in the wrist action, keep them straight and strong! Control the clay, don't let it control you...
I did get a very large chunk of mahogony cut down into a workable size to build a new instrument. It's destined to be another fretless bass, which judging by the last instrument will be completed by about 2020.
