Little dreamer

No, that isn't a horn growing out of his head, it's a french pottery chicken.I mean a chicken in the background, not a chicken growing out of his head. Lack of sleep does stuff to your brain. Decays it mainly.

Anyway, what a cutie. I don't see many pictures like this as I'm usually behind the camera so allow me some self induldgence

Bearing up

This is the little fellow that has caused such a fuss! I wish I had documented everything that happened as it happened over the last two weeks but that was the last thing on my mind... Was a very traumatic time for mum, not an easy birth. The nurses were brilliant but it was painfully ( ! ) obvious the shortfalls in th NHS. Sam was born on the Friday morning, we mnaged to escape the hospital on the Sunday night. I shook all the way home (it's about a 20 minute drive) the most nerve wracking drive I've ever done! As soon as Sam got in the house his eyes were wide open and darting around , he knew he was somewhere differant. He knew he was home.
We've had so many lovely gifts and cards, it's been amazing, everyone has been so supportive and nice, we realised some hidden qualities in people we took for granted-such as my next door neighbour who called to see if I was ok after sleeping (or not as was the case) in the hospital for two days!..
Life is slowly adjusting to the new order, although sleep has been a distant memory over the last week as he suffers terrible gripe.
The bear pyjamas from canada have to be the coolest present yet...thankyou cards are on their way soon to a certain auntie!

Ka boosh

God I'm so tired! The only reason I'm here typing this is because it's easier to stay up till 1-00 am to give little Sam his feed, rather than go to bed then get wrenched away from it. Not that I begrudge him of course, he can't help getting hungry! He really likes to sit with his dad whilst getting all milked up. Such a cutie and so happy looking. I can't believe he's nearly a week old. It's been one of those weeks that feel like twenty years. I changed him earlier and just sat and watched for five minutes as he slept on his change mat, wriggling around dreaming, legs kicking and twitching. I never realised how you can spend so long just watching each little mannerism, I suppose it's partly because it's so familiar, a mini me! He also makes very funny squeaking noises and sighs. I've also found that playing acoustic guitar quite loud soothes him. I tried fingerpicking all sensitive and quiet... no result. Loud strumming and chunky chords.... instant success! Time for a shopping trip.

Introduce yourself...

Yesterday morning ( Friday 11th January 2008) at 07-48, after a torturous night, my beautiful wife gave birth to my equally beautiful son, weighing 6 pounds and 15 and a half ounces. What more can I add. The best late Christmas present I will ever get.
