Tuka tuka

My mate Rick had a heart attack last week. Got helicoptered from Malton into Hull Hospital. Visited him today, you wouldn't think he had had a thing wrong, so positive and looking like he always looks. Very philosophical about it though, being resussed twice and pumped full of morphine. Some people are so very brave and humble, made me proud to be one of his friends, an absolute star. To top it off, he got filmed by "helicopter heroes-gonna be on the tellybox" how cool is that!

Looking for the space between the space

Another mundane week in the museum world...
Wednesday I accompanied a surveyor from English Heritage up into the roofspace (he was an absolute gentleman, a top bloke) and gained abit more trivia about the old place. Breathed in alot of 15th century dust and looked at the victorian repairs to the timbers.
Thursday took a lady from the BBC on a tour in the hope of securing a filming slot for their antiques hunter program, then toured a school from Market Rasen and possibly also bedlam.
Friday, stood in the shop, nice quiet day.
Was worried that sam would be ok though as he was due booster injections for various nasty diseases that we all have to not have. Apparently he screamed the place down, but soon got over it, using the situation to gain as much sympathy and chocolate as possible.
That's my boy. I have taught him well so far!

For reasons unknown

End of an era. No more space shuttle, quite sad as I grew up watching this beast shoot up into the sky. I remember sitting in my dads' car, waiting to pick up my sister from her first job and hearing on the radio that Challenger had exploded. I remember Columbia too. I've followed so many launches and landings, it's a metaphor for life. Only Mrs Somers knows just what an anorak I am when it comes to the space program, it's like a guilty secret, except that I don't feel any guilt. We should all look to the stars!
Yay, I've found the little tool that enables me to add photos again. Here is my little star dancing to Glasto. Complete with red eyes.
You shall have an ocarina Mrs canadian composer, just give me some time. I'm having those thoughts yet again so maybe in need of some spiritual support via the gulfstream. Take a deep breath, then get back to the present...

Birds

Have just had two wonderful days at Rawmarsh School making pottery ocarinas shaped like birds, with in all about 150 kids (but not all at once!) Kids were brilliant, staff were brilliant too. Strange how it seems so quick to drive to, yet is a totally differant landscape and quite striking. Don't want to go back to my boring old 15th century medieval manor house in the morning! Work is tough! I would have posted photos, but have lost my bluetooth dongle and can't find the energy to crank up the more modern netbook (which does not require such items..!).
