Off with their heads...

My birthday was an odd occassion for me. I worked the morning, taking 30 teenagers who were very cocky and smart and loads of fun, we had a good banter going. Pm we went Newark antiquing then ended up at a curry house which was very nice. I just couldn't help feeling abit jaded by the whole business and recent events.
Just as depressing yesterday was leaving today turned up. The plan was to cut the hedges and lawn but... my phone had a message as I was chopping away. The idiots who were sorting the PA system for prominent speaker Alison Weirs' lecture hadn't bothered to turn up, and no one knows how to set it up... Yes! I have a use in life after all. So I zipped off to work and had a thoroughly hero worshipped afternoon, setting up the mikes and then listening to a very interesting lecture on Anne Boleyn (although my heart was in my mouth the whole time wondering if it would feedback or die etc...)I even got a mention and applause at the end for rescueing the afternoon. Karma must have been looking down on my miserable soul and realised I needed a boost. I even got a couple of signed books, there was another speaker whos name escapes me for this entry on account of a large amount of celebratory vino...
The picture is of my mixing desk with Alison Weir preparing her stuff on the right hand side.

who needs sleep

Last day of being 30 something, in fact last 30minutes. Strangely I can remember nearly everything I've accomplished and not accomplished during the last decade. I can time it from when I started my present employment, it runs as a sort of string through my life for the last ten years, with some real lows and a few real highs. Been on TV quite a few times (and still being repeated, albeit as a background peasant!), been on radio, worked in some great places, most of all, seen alot of people come and go. Played alot of music and got quite good at it I like to think. Oh, one other thing, produced a son. Anyone with children knows that that beats explaining or expressing, it's the best thing you can ever accomplish. Ever.

Bad company

My comet has swung back into view, I discovered this particular celestial body once more today. I wish i could chat mrs canadian composer, goddamn this ridiculous time differance tilted earth rubbish. If we could get the earth straightened on it's axis then slowed down, we could chat in real time, maybe tea time. Meantime, well its a mean time for us both i guess.

and a year on too....

yep, that same comet swung around into my orbit today, dodged inside the inner moons and as usual caused another inner tsunami. Bizarely this also has happened a year on, you know who I am talking to here. Worked at the Collection Museum in Lincoln today as a freelance potter and minstrel, a thoroughly enjoyable day on a number of levels. Less than a week till I hit 40. Who hoo...!
